While in college he would show the world his sports prowess again in football, baseball and track. Sanders would achieve a whole host of awards at his alma mater of Florida state, who in 1995 retired his number(#2).

Sanders was great for many reasons. Around the NFL and country he earned shiny titles like,”Prime Time” and “Neon Deion” due to his style and flamboyance on the field.

Though Sanders made it look effortless he was a hard worker says Twincities.com. Twincities.com caught a word from Jerry Jones saying,”He wanted it to look easy, but he was a hard worker. He would give just enough practice to be a team player in strength and conditioning, but when he went home he worked like a dog on his strength. He wanted everyone to think he was a natural. He was, but it wasn’t only because he was born that way….He worked!”

In 1994, he helped the San Francisco 49ers defeat the reigning two-time champions the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC conference championships. This defeat would be largely focused on his coverage of Micheal Irvin, who was a wide receiver highly credited with the recognition as to why Dallas was so dangerous at that time. Micheal Irvin, also known as “The Playmaker”, had played a pivotal role in the two previous Dallas Cowboy championship victories. That year Deion would lead his own team, The San Fransisco 49’ers to a national title. The following year the Dallas Cowboys would acquire ‘Prime Time’ and he would help them re assert their dominance winning another Superbowl, their third in four seasons.

Deion Sanders holds the record for most defensive touchdowns by any player in a single season. He also was the first player to return two interceptions in a single season both for over 90 yards. He was also the first player to make the NFL’s all-decade team for two positions(corner-back and punt returner)in the 1990’s according to Foxsports.com

In the inductee process, we was presented with the award by his long time friend and agent Eugene Parker who said,”Deion had the ability to not only focus on his craft and play football at the highest level, he could also entertain.”

Sanders is also the only player in sports history to play in a Superbowl and a World series game. Deion Sanders was a great joy to watch play the game of football. Deion was the type of player that you couldn’t just play with, you had to perform against. The type of player that forced you to be better, or defeat was imminent. If you were on his team you loved him, if you were on the opposite team you hated him. Nevertheless, Sanders’ flashy style and dynamic have helped shape standards that NFL players that are still trying to be lived up to till this day.
