Fall Fabric Pumpkin Craft

Crafts are one of my favorite things to do. Especially the no-sew variety. I am not a great crotchetier or knitter, so those don’t work for me at all. This fall craft was so simple older children could do it with very minimal supervision. This fall craft can be brought out in September and left out until you put your Christmas decorations out.

This craft was inspired by a bath tissue pumpkin I saw on a blog. I did not want to use a roll of bath tissue to make the pumpkin, mostly because I didn’t like the shape, so I doctored the idea.

Here is what you will need for a Fall Fabric Pumpkin.

Bath Tissue Roll (just the cardboard roll) Plastic grocery bags or Newspaper Orange fabric (Our square is 18 inches by 18 inches) Thin cardboard (we used the square that our quilting square came wrapped around) Brown and Green felt Scissors

Place the fabric bright side down on a flat working surface, like the dining room or kitchen table. Set the bath tissue roll in the center of the fabric. Put grocery bags around the roll being careful to make sure it stays standing. This can be difficult and children may need help.

Lift the edges of the fabric and push it into the roll from the toilet paper. Keep working with it until you like the shape of your pumpkin. Cut two leaves and some vine from felt (or green fabric) and push them into the roll.

Now cut a piece of thin cardboard about 6 inches by 4 1/2 inches and roll it into a stem. Cut a piece of brown felt long enough to wrap around the stem, with one end having extra (2 inches or so) to push down inside.

Push the stem down into the roll to hold it all together.

Viola! You just created a Fall Fabric Pumpkin. Feel free to adjust the sizes to create a pumpkin family.
