The first guy pretty much nailed it, but I’d stress the water. Drink nothing but water, and drink a lot of it.Second, don’t give up. You didn’t get this way over night, and it’s not going to go away over night. Lot’s of people get discouraged when they don’t see results fast enough. But to persevere is to get there.It won’t be easy, and at times, it won’t seem like much fun, but if you can “stay the course” the rewards will be worth it.Good luck and Godspeed.
at 20 yrs old, to be that overweight is a very big issue and i too commend you for wanting to correct it. unless you grossly overeat and get no exercize, i would wonder about your hormones. have you had a full blood work up? i suggest meeting with your doctor to search for a physiological reason for the obesity. then, if none is found, your doctor can guide you to correct weight loss techniques and/or refer you to a dietician and/or weight loss specialist. no matter what it costs, the price is worth it for your future health and self-esteem. good luck! plenty of water (aim for approx 1 gal/day)plenty of cardio, preferably 1st thing in the morning when glycogen stores are depleted b/c your body is a fasting state.incorporate intervals into your cardio.weight training (lean muscle mass supports an elevated metabolism)reduce overall carb intake, but stick almost entirely to low-GI carbstaper your carb consumption off thruout the day, so that in the p.m. (when you’re more likely to store them as bodyfat) you’re eating far fewer than in the a.m.make sure you get plenty of fiber (aim for 30g/day)get plenty of protein (aim for 1 to 1.5g per every lb of bodyweight)focus on lowfat proteins–non-fat dairy (yogurt, milk, etc), lean animal proteins (fish, poultry), legumes, soy, etc.plenty of fruits & veggiesreduce overall calorie consumption by 250-500 cal/day. eat 5-6 smaller meals/day, with your protein spaced evenly among them.
first off i feel what you are going through althogh i dont weigh as much but i would sugest eating fruits and veg. cut out your starch and eat leaner cut meats.drink plenty of water and exercise.
This is the best advice I can give: Get hooked up with Weight Watchers and stick to the diet. I’ve seen so many people find success on Weight Watchers. The diet is very healthy, but gives you some wiggle room. Plus, you get support. I know a lifetime member who started out at 300 pounds and now is down to her goal weight. It does take time, but it works.
Atkins worked for me. I also brought my treadmill in my living room and walked every night. (and I hate exercise) Cut out cokes (unless diet), drink plenty of water (i put lemon in mine) and read up on the diet. It was perfect for me because I love food! I could eat as much as some foods as i wanted. I weighed 180 when i started and now ive been maintaining 122 for about 8 months now. I am not on the diet any more, nor do i still exercise daily, but now i just cut portions on whatever im eating. Good luck to you…i know how hard it can be. Water, fresh fruit and vegetables, a portion of meat the size of your palm and no processed or junk foor and a brisk walk 3 times a week, start off slowly and eventually you should be able to do at least 1/2 and hour to an hour….remember to take your water with you. Good Luck!
Hi,I am so sorry that life has not been kind to you. I have lived with your problem for years. March 23, 2006 my life was changed! I had weight loss surgery. I have lost 78 pounds and numerous inches. I have gone from a size 28/30 to an 18/20. I weighed 272 pounds. I now weigh 194! I will continue losing weight. My goal is 145. I think you should forget diets which research has proved do not work and have something that will last a life time. But, it is a life changing decision and one not meant to be made rashly. Check into and ask questions.
I feel your pain, I was the same weight at your age, now I’m almost 30 and smaller than I’ve ever been. I went on weight watchers a couple of years ago and lost 69 lbs. It is slow but steady adn you are more likely to keep it off. With surgery you are always left with the excess skin, which is a huge drawback. Losing weight slowly, even at 300 lbs, will keep you from having so much skin left, it allows your skin to shrink back.Also, I agree with going to the dr for a complete thyroid panel, before losing the weight I had a thyroid problem and it can cause problems with weight until it’s under control.
Check with your Dr and look into stomach stapling IF you have tried other conventional diets & exercise and failed.

Instead of proposing a diet plan (outside my area of expertise), I want to commend you for taking the first step and admitting your weight is a real issue and one you are willing to committ to working on for the rest of your life.
