Lower left side abdominal pain??
Q: To start out I do have a doctors appointment scheduled for January (waited until I got health insurance before going in).In December of 2005 I suddenly got pain in the lower left side of my abdomin. I feel the pain all of the time–does not matter what I am doing. At times the pain is MUCH worse. If I have been sitting for an extended amount of time and stand up fast the pain is extreemly sharp and will cause me to double back over–takes me a while until I am actually able to stand up straight. I have had times where the pain has been so bad that it wakes me up during the night.Recently I got that time of month again (was on the shot and didn’t have it for over 8 years) and had lots of clotting. The pain in my left side was still there (a little worse, but not much), BUT I also got the same pain in my right side–went away when that time ended.Any ideas??? Has anyone ever experienced this??Please also note that I do not drink coffee or soda. I drink water all of the time and actually also take multi vitamins and cranberry concentrate. My friends think I am nuts because of the amount of water I drink. 🙂
A: The only thing I’ve experienced that comes close to this was during pregnancy, when the ligament that is attached to the uterus was being stretched by the pregnancy and would hurt when I stood up or rolled over in bed. Since you are not pregnant (right??), I don’t think that is your problem. What comes to mind when I read your symptoms is either cysts on your ovary, OR there could be something going on with your intestine on the left side. I would recommend that you first go to your gynecologist and have a full pelvic exam. If that does not turn up anything, then go to your family practicioner and explain the symptoms and request a full physical and some tests on your digestive tract. They may want to do a colonoscopy to check things out.
Why did I cramp & pour of blood after sex?
Q: I asked ask-a-nurse this & was told to just see a Dr. I hadn’t had sex in 3 months. I was a week away from starting my period. My boyfriend & I reconciled & had sex last Sat night. I had sharp pains in the lower left of my abdomin. When we were done, there was blood all over him, puddles, all over the bed, on me, everywhere. I started crying, it scared me so badly. After I got all cleaned up, I didn’t bleed anymore, so it’s not like I kick-started my period early or anything. I’ve went that long w/out sex before & not bled like that. So what could’ve caused that? Only serious answers, please. Thank you!How long would it take for something like this (the things that could be wrong w/me that were mentioned) to happen? I just had my yearly pap test done a couple of months ago with nothing wrong with the results
A: 1 – definately see a doctor.2 – it COULD be endometriosys3 – It COULD be a ruptured cyst on the ovary4 – WHENEVER something like that happens PLEASE go see a doctor. This is your overall health at steak not something to be humiliated or ashamed about.
