1000 mg and then you risk diarhea,at least until your body builds up a tolerance and then you can take a little more.
What events can indicate a need for more high-vitamin C foods?Poor wound healing Frequent colds or infections Lung-related problems There are very few research studies that document vitamin C toxicity at any level of supplementation, and there are no documented toxicity effects whatsoever for vitamin C in relation to food and diet. At high supplemental doses involving 5 or more grams of vitamin C, diarrhea can result from the fluid in the intestine becoming too concentrated (“osmotic diarrhea”). Large supplemental doses of vitamin C can also increase levels of uric acid in the urine, because vitamin C can be broken down into uric acid. However, it is not clear that increased uric acid in the urine can increase a person’s risk of forming uric acid kidney stones. Finally, vitamin C can increase a person’s absorption of iron from plant foods; and persons who have health problems related to excess free iron in their cells may want to consider avoiding high supplemental doses of vitamin C. It is important to remember that all of the above toxicity-related issues involve vitamin C in supplemental form, not as it naturally occurs in food. In 2000, the National Academy of Sciences set a Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) for vitamin C at 2,000 milligrams (2 grams) for adults 19 years or older.
It’s definitely safe.it should have no effect on your bm’s at all. You shouldn’t substitute vitamins for getting the right amount of fruits and vegetables, though, and if you are on a low carb diet, you should probably take a fiber supplement. One thing I picked up from a friend who was a heavy smoker until a year ago.Vitamin C really helps you avoid colds, flu, etc. I found my experience to be the same – it seems to help the body ward off illness a lot better.I take at least a multivitamin plus a vitamin C tablet every day. 1000 milligrams of vitamin C.Another thing – you want to look for “Ester” C. It costs about twice as much as the regular vitamin C tablets, but your body metabolizes it a lot better.
it depends if it is taken orally or intravenously and in what form ie what anion it is bonded to. 2g is about the daily level you can take orally before people get into trouble with diarrhoea.
As much as you want. The body doesnt store vitamin c like it does other vitamins.
You can take as much as you’d like for the most part. You just know you’ve gotten enough when you start having diarrhea. And it varies for each person. I’ve taken probably up to 6000mg on certain days, and no diarrhea. But it would definitely be okay to take a vitamin c supplement along with your multi-vitamin.
