Cleveland’s Turkey Trot

For runners looking for a little exercise before the day’s big meal, the Cleveland Turkey Trot is a popular choice. In 2011, the race will be celebrating its 30th year.

The Turkey Trot, sponsored by Hermes Sports & Events, takes place on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 24. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., a 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 8:45 a.m., and a 5-Mile Timed Run begins at 9:30 a.m.

The race begins and ends at the Galleria at Erieview, at 1301 East 9th St. in Cleveland.

Participants get a customized long-sleeve T-shirt, and all finishers get ribbons. Preregistered runners will get random prizes, and winners in each age group get awards. There’s also a costume contest at the start line. Parking is available at lots in the area and on adjacent streets.
