Don’t You Love This Time of Year?
By Tracey Hudson
Leaves falling thru a mid-autumm sky
The wind telling secrets of you and I
I lean back and whisper in your ear
“Don’t you love this time of year?”
Early morning frost puts a “snap” in the air
Fall festivals beckon in town squares
Country meadows a buffet for the deer
“Don’t you love this time of year?”
Pumpkins to carve and candy to share
The children debate what costume to wear
Trick or Treat! The coast is clear!
“Don’t you love this time of year?”
Apples and cinnamon and Tom Turkey too
Family and friends gather round in gratitude
The easy chair calls for some football cheers
“Don’t you love this time of year?”
