How to make a delicious “Green Monster” smoothie
You’ve seen these things. They look like liquid guacamole and people actually drink them. They are called Green Monster smoothies and they are an excellent way to drink in a nice sized serving of green leafy vegetables. Let’s admit it. We can all use more greens in our diet and this is a quick and easy way to do it. You also get mixed berries for the antioxidants, banana for carbohydrates and protein powder for well umm…protein. Using almond milk keeps this vegan to help with the nutrient uptake. I usually make this everyday for a pre or post workout drink or a quick meal substitute. I admit the color is less than ideal but that might be the only downside. Oh and it actually tastes really good.
Ingredients:
1 medium banana
½ cup frozen mixed berries
1 serving Protein Powder
½ cup unsweetened almond milk
2 handfuls of green leafy vegetables: Spinach, Kale, Chard, etc.
1 handful of ice to suit
Toss the ingredients into a blender in this order: banana, mixed berries, protein powder, almond milk, leafy vegetable. Blend until liquid (usually takes about a minute). Add ice to adjust consistency. Continue blending. Pour and enjoy guilt free. It’s quick and easy and good for you.
