Make-Up on the Go-Go-Go

High School was great for me – Make-up wise.
I had all the time in the world to get ready. I would sit down at my little armoire, turn on my cosmetic mirror and pull open the drawer that was home to my plethora of make-up options. I had time to try on multiple shades of eyeshadow to see if they matched my outfit just how I Iiked it. I could put on my eyeliner, with time to spare for “mistakes”. I’d try 3 to 4 different lip glosses/stick combos. It was fun. It was what I think putting on make-up is supposed to be like.

Now, I have 2 jobs. I work 14 hour days. I hardly have time to put my hair in a bun, let alone get the animals fed and let out, get my lunch together and find my cell phone! Most of the time, I leave the house make-up-less and desperately hoping there is a long stop light along the way.

My day job doesn’t officially open until 8 am. I’m scheduled to be there at 7:30. So usually (rather I say rarely), I have time to put on some make-up I’ve lodge in my desk before doors open. Picture this: A woman slumped over her keyboard that has a pressed powder mirror propped up between the F-keys and the number keys, pulling her eyelid down and over to get a streak of eyeliner on in time before the mirror slides off said keyboard. I blindly put on blush and usually I have time to fill in one eyebrow and sweep mascara over the top lids in time before the early drivers stop in.

Then it’s a toss up of when I can get to the bathroom to finish up and when I can actually go to the bathroom to pee!

The easy solution would be to wake up earlier. That’s easier said than done. I go to bed every time with the intentions of an early rise, and early start. But…Come on. They shouldn’t even put a snooze button on an alarm. That’s like giving a crack addict…crack. Only in this case, sleep is my crack.

I do my best to get everything set out before I go to bed — lunch, outfit, cell phone (if I can find it…). But, life happens.

Kudos to those of you who have the time and to those of you who have amazing skin and don’t need to wear make-up. I wish there were more hours in the day. I just don’t have time anymore to look put together.
