The National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, Oklahoma is pleased to announce that 567 cyclists and 200 volunteers attended the 2011 Bike MS Oklahoma: The Mother Road Ride presented by Sam’s Club on Sept. 17 and 18.
“Thank you so much to our amazing riders, volunteers, community partners, sponsors, donors and supporters who joined the 2011 Bike MS Oklahoma: The Mother Road Ride, presented by Sam’s Club, this past weekend,” said Cristy Racy, Oklahoma development manager. “You all kept our mission moving to help everyone living with multiple sclerosis. Thank you for a physically and emotionally moving weekend. Thank you for riding for those who can’t and for riding to make a powerful, positive difference in our world.”
Donations and pledges from the 2011 Bike MS Oklahoma can be turned in by Oct. 28 to qualify for 2011 fundraising prizes.
“We are currently at 75 percent of our 2011 goal at $375,000 and, with your help, we can meet the $500,000 goal,” said Racy.
Funds raised will support direct services and programs for more than 3,400 people with MS and their families in Oklahoma and for national MS research to find a cure for this chronic disease of the central nervous system.
Next year’s 2012 Bike MS Oklahoma is set for Sept. 15-16, 2012 with online registration opening the in spring.
The ride is a two day ride that begins in Tulsa and goes to Chandler on day one.
Day two starts in Chandler and ends at the captol in Oklahoma City.
Cyclists ride approximately 150 miles over both days. Along the ride, cyclists can find rest stops every 10 to 12 miles and SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles are available between stops.
