I have a number of friends that absolutely love Click protein shakes, so I was excited to finally get samples of them to try for myself. Click is available in two flavors, mocha and vanilla latte. I love coffee drinks (gosh, I wish Starbucks was cheaper) so these flavors definitely appealed to me.
I’m a regular user of protein shakes, so the first thing I wanted to know was how Click measured up to other brands of shakes I use. One serving of Click, which is two scoops of powder, has 120 calories, six grams of sugar and 15 grams of protein. Now, calorie-wise, that’s not bad. I’d rather have a shake with less sugar but I can deal with six grams. Fifteen grams of protein is on the low side, but I usually mix my protein powder with milk, so that ups the protein some.
One thing I wasn’t sure I liked about Click is that it contains caffeine. You might expect that in a coffee drink, but it seems that most coffee-flavored protein drinks are decaffeinated. A protein shake with caffeine might be all right if you like to have your protein drink early in the morning, but sometimes I like to have one before bed.
I tried the vanilla latte Click first. I put the powder in my favorite cup with about 12 ounces of soy milk and shook it up. The Click powder dissolved well. I thought it tasted pretty good. In fact, it reminded me a lot of my favorite protein powder, Syntrax Nectar cappuccino flavor. I have to say I actually like the Syntrax Nectar just a little bit better, though. I also like its nutritional statistics a little bit better; it has only 90 calories, no sugar and 23 grams of protein per serving.
I tried the mocha Click later, and it also dissolved easily when shaken with soy milk. The mocha flavored Click was pretty good, too, and a nice change from my usually cappuccino flavored shake.
In the end, I have to say that while I liked the Click protein shakes, there are other brands I like as much or better, and other brands I think are better for me, from a nutritional standpoint. If you want a tasty protein drink with a jolt of caffeine, though, you might want to give them a try.
