Is it unusual for your due date to change? Could it be a bad sign in early pregnancy?
Q: I am about 6 weeks preg. My LMP was on 10/9/06. I tracked my ovulation and my surge was detected on 10/22 meaning ovulation should have occurred on 10/23 (I think!). I had some minor spotting at 4 weeks, perhaps implantation, but to be sure my doctor wanted me to come in for an ultrasound at about 6 weeks. I went in at what I thought was 6 weeks and 2 days and was told I only measured at 5 weeks and 6 days. Therefore no heartbeat could be heard. I’ve done that math in every way and it just does not add up that I would NOT have been over 6 weeks. I’m stressing over every detail as I have started spotting in the last few days (yes, I have called my doctor and we have another ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday). Thankfully it is soon but I am still wondering if this is common or could be a bad sign that my fetus is not heathy or of an impending miscarriage. Any similar experiences? Is it common for an ultrasound and due date based on my period/ovulation not to match? I cant help but worry! Please only helpful or understanding feedback… Anyone who has been through a miscarriage or turbulent pregnancy understand how difficult waiting and worrying can be…and it’s inevitable.I had a transvaginal ultrasound on Tuesday, 11/21. Spotted Wed, Thurs, Fri and Saturday. VERY small amounts of a plum/ brownish color. But enough to scare me and ruin my holiday weekend! Can spotting continue this long from a transvaginal ultrasound? And what about the no heartbeat?
A: You should read:www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.comTo read about other women who have gone through similar things and just how inaccurate early ultrasounds are. You know your ovulation date, you know your LMP trust your date and ignore the doc.Relax. Spotting without cramping is almost always nothing. If you had a trans-vaginal ultrasound or vaginal exam or sex recently that could cause spotting. (No big deal there is just extra blood in your cervix and it gets irritated easily.)Have you considered midwifery care? They generally have much more time to spend with you at each appointment and are good at helping with your fears.
chemical miscarriage?
Q: Well ladies, i guess i did get my bfp last week. i took a hpt after what i suspected was implantation bleeding. i got a bfp so faint that i didn’t believe it. i went in for a blood test and tried calling for the results buy my gyno office is not very helpful and if they are too busy, they say they will look and call back but never do. four days later i got what i thought was my af and thought well, i guess i wasn’t prego. my af was so bad this month but i chalked it up to my endometriosis. i took my first clomid yesterday and for some reason thought i should call my doc and make sure. found out i was about a week preggo, my hcg levels were 19. for all the ladies that have experienced a chemical miscarriage, can you tell me why? all i keep thinking was it was something i did because i didn’t think i was preggo. i can’t believe three different doctors knew the results and no one called me. i am finding myself devestated but i guess i am also happy because this does mean i CAN get pregnant. just looking for some words of wisdom ladies….thanks.thank you so much ladies, nice to hear from experience. Unfortunately, i live in BC, Canada where there is a growing shortage of docs. The fact that i have one (good or bad) makes me a lucky one here so there is no switching of docs. so i guess i will have to be more proactive and not worry that they are annoyed at me for calling for my results.
A: I am so sorry for your loss.It was absolutely NOTHING that you did . . . and unfortunately, there is nothing that you can do to prevent chemical pregnancies / miscarriages. Successful implantation and/or cell division did not occur . . . something went wrong and your body naturally ended the pregnancy. It really is nature at work. I would be annoyed at the doctors for not talking to you – you should clearly express that to them so that this type of thing does not happen again or find one doctor that you like / trust and stick with him/her/.Good luck and loads of baby dust to you!
miscarriage possible– went to the er, they are saying its fine but im not convinced.?
Q: i have had a miscarriage before. so i know blood is not a good sign in pregnancy. i know that some people get implantation bleeding but if that’s what this was i would have already had it and been past that. I’m about 13 weeks and I’ve been pretty tired today so i have been in bed most of the day. when i woke up i went to the bathroom wiped and there was blood. it was like i was on my period. but that’s all that was there. i immediately went to the er and when i gave them the urine sample no blood in the urine and when i wiped pretty much nothing at all anymore. i do have a uti and the dr said it could be from that and that my cervix is still closed which means its more than likely not a miscarriage. my first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and i was crampy and had spotting before i dont have any of that now. and i have not had any of that this pregnancy. any advice would help, people who had this same problem and did or did not miscarry. i want positive but sometimes you dont always get what you want. and i know i shouldn’t think this way but i cant help but think i should prepare myself for the worst.
A: as you know red blood is always bad… i did have a brown discharge and i went to the e.r. they said my cervix was closed but my hcg levels where very very low… also i did have blood in my urine without a poss. uti… so i later that night i did miscarry… but i think that your okay because your cervix is closed PLUS you did not have blood in your urine which means not active bleedin.. and a uti can def cause for blood… that was the first thing they tested me for and when it came back neg. thats when they proceeded the test.. and also if your discharge papers from e.r. dont say threatned miscarriage then they prob think you are ok..
