Why didn’t my psychologist diagnose me with BPD? What is the criteria for diagnosing that?

A: First of all, you shouldn’t be trying to diagnose yourself. BPD is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more severe.To me, you sound like you have bipolar disorder. I’m not a psychologist, so I can’t say for sure. Have you told your psychologist everything? Make an appointment and tell them EVERYTHING you’ve listed. Remember, it’s confidential and they won’t judge you, and if you don’t tell them everything, you won’t get the proper treatment.In any case, like I said, quit trying to diagnose yourself. You’re just creating yourself needless anxiety.

Q: We random drug test my son (16) for marijuana use. We get the tests from a company that supplies tests to corporations and schools. We know he has a number of friends who smoke often and that he has tried it. Over the last six months he has never tested positive. Yesterday he did. He swears he did not smoke. He now tells us that the group of kids he rides home with does, in their car, and since it’s been cold the windows are up keeping the smoke in. (I asked why he never got a positive before since he admitted they’ve been smoking around him for a long time. When it was warm he said they kept the windows down.) He now rides with someone else and has been punished for being stupid enough to be in a car with people smoking weed. ANYWAY–I called the test strip lab and they said he would have had to smoked it himself for the positive. My kid is in the middle of soccer play-offs, works out all the time and is a terrible lier. I’m wanting to believe him. He says he’ll take the punishment, but he wants me to know he did not smoke it. Has he got better at lying or is the strip capable of picking up on second hand smoke?I test because he did smoke last summer and was caught. He’s a very bright kid, but does badly in school and all his friends smoke weed and worse. They do stupid-ass things like vandalism and almost all his friends have been arrested for one thing or another. A: While I personally do not have an issue with pot smokers I applaud you for taking such an active interest in your son’s activities. Kudos to you for keeping him engaged in extracurricular activities and punishing him for failing a drug test.There is a time and place for everything and that place is called college, unless you are paying for his college then you can continue to drug test him but he should be much smarter at passing the test by then.

A: i don’t think you can get a positive from a contact high. i would say that he slipped up. i have a 14 yr old that lies about the stupidest things luckily she is not doing drugs or alcohol or anything like that but i know it will be coming at some point. we always know when she is lying. i would go with what your gut is telling you but don’t be deceived by wanting to believe he’s telling the truth.
