How do you know the difference between a light period and pregnancy spotting?
Q: I know that you can have light spotting when youre pregnant, but a period can also be light and spotting.. How do you tell the difference? I get light periods a lot and I hate it because I never really know if that means I’m pregnant or not.. Is there a way to know other than taking a test everytime I get a lighter period?
A: There is no way of telling really unless its a lot lighter than your usual period, hardly enough to see except on a tissue when you wipe yourself.Periods usually contain enough blood/womb lining that you need to wear a tampon or pad at least for a couple of days. If its this heavy and happens when you normally would expect your period then I would think it indicates you are not pregnant.
HELP!!! 6 weeks Pregnant and some light spotting?
Q: Well according to the clinic I went to I am 6 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I started with some brownish spotting only when I wipe. Very little when I wipe and not every time. I had that earlier today and tonight when i wipe I have pinkish-red when i wipe. very little though. No cramps.. I feel just some discomfort pressure on the bottom part of my stomach like where my uterus is..I called my doc today and told the nurse what was going on but she gave me an appointment for Thursday which is 3 days away..I have been taking it easy, just laying down most of the day. This is my first pregnancy and I am very worried.. I am scared about a miscarriage. My hubby and I have been TTC for a year now. I was the pill for over 10 yrs and we finally got a positive test. Can anyone tell me if this has happened to you or what may be going on. I’m just concerned and can’t wait to go to the doc on Thursday.. I don’t feel the need to go the the ER.. just concerned.. If u can give me some good feedback I’d appreciate it..Please tell me your source, whether it be personal experience or ur a nurse etc…Thanks!what would be considered heavy spotting?? its not enough now that i have to wear a pad. it does not get on my underwear..also..is the discomfort in my lower abdomin normal?? kind of pressure and feels kind of like the discomfort I have before i start my period. No cramps just discomfort.
A: Actually, this is not uncommon. I had the same thing. Your hormones are changing. don’t panic. Take some vitamin e and relax. Unless there is a problem, it will go away.
What is going on here, pregnant and light spot?
Q: I’m six weeks exactly when I went to the bathroom (I was holding it in for awhile) when I wiped I noticed a small very light pink spot. About the size of a small fingernail. This would be around the time I would be ovulating (if I wasn’t pregnant) but I’ve read in rare cases you can ovulate while pregnant. Could that be causing it? What’s going on? I’m trying not to get worried.I don’t have health insurance so I can’t go to the doctor. My first ultrasound is in a few weeks. I don’t think it should be implantation bleeding I’m already six weeks, 27dpo.
A: I actually got the same thing in my 4th week going into my 5th, I went to the bathroom and I noticed a very faint light pink spotting, not a lot, and that was the only time. I went to the doctor right away and I was sent for an ultrasound and blood test right away – I had to do a regular ultrasound, then ended up having to do an intravaginal ultrasound as well as it was hard to see anything since I was too early, but they were able to predict that it wasn’t an ectopic pregnancy, and that it wasn’t a miscarriage. I also did 2 blood tests, 48 hours apart, to make sure my HCG level is going up, if it was going down, it could be a miscarriage as well. It was a long and stressful week but everything turned out fine, so I suggest you doing the same and see your doctor right away and get tested. You’re better of safe and assured even if they seemed like unnecessary tests!!!Good luck and all the best to you!! And try not to stress out too much and try and think positive, as stressing out apparently causes problems and can lead to premature deliveries and such. Also remember that stress makes you produce endorphins, which fight off your level of stress, and from what I heard, endorphins are not good for your baby!!! It could all be BS but better safe than sorry, right???
