Does skim, 1, 2 percent milk give you the same amount of calcium for your bones as whole milk?
Q: my mom and sisters drink skim and 1 or even 2 percent milk and they have tried to get me to drink it, which I never will but I was wondering if those give the same amout of calcium as whole milk?
A: The calcium is the same. It’s the amount of fat and sugars that are different. Whole milk has a lot of fat in it. And I personally think that 2% just tastes better, it’s not as thick as whole milk. I say this with the experience of drinking whole milk and 2%. If you do decide to start drinking skim or 2% milk, and are having a difficult time with it, try starting off with filling a glass half with whole and half with 2%. Then once you get used to it start filling up the glass all the way with 2%. If you are going to skim milk, get used to drinking the 2%, then repeat the procedure with 2% going down to skim.
Which is a healthier breakfast? slim-fast shake or breakfast cereal with 1% or skim milk?
Q: I am 15 goin on 16 and i usually have a turkey sandwich on wheat for lunch with a 100 cal pack and a normal supper …. so i was wondering what would be a healthier breakfast for me to eat slim-fast shake or bowl of cereal with skim or 1% milk…(i usually eat honey bunches of oats or frosted cherios)
A: I would definitely opt for the cereal if I were you. You can get some like Total, Vector, etc that are really good for you and will keep you full until your lunch. I like honey bunches of oats too. It keeps you really full until your next meal, and has a lot of nutrients. Another option is to have a smaller bowl of cereal and a mid-morning snack (just some yogurt or fruit). The more often you eat during the day, the higher your metabolism will be.
Does skim milk have less hormones tha 1% or 2% milk?
Q: I know that ppl tell you tht milk has a bunch of hormones and nasty crap. Does skim milk have all that stuff too? i know it doesn’t have fat though duhh!
A: That’s a good question that needs further research.I have heard that the residuals from hormones and pesticides, and all the other nasty stuff we don’t want in our bodies gets stored in fatty tissue. So, I would assume that it may accumulate more readily in fat found in foods. I do not know, but I am off to find out. I may return with a answer for you. Here you go, an answer:”One compared levels of hormones and growth factors in American milk (whole, whole organic, skim milk, and UHT – ultra-high temperature – milk) to milk from Mongolia. Levels were very low in both American skim and in Mongolian milk. “also “But steps can be taken now to reduce the amount of hormones in milk, said Ganmaa. Because hormones reside in milk fat, drinking skim milk is one option. Getting calcium from green leafy vegetables is another. “This comes from an article from Harvard scientists, that studies the levels of estrogen in milk. Guys if you don’t want to grow breasts maybe you should read this article. And, I heard there was a lot of estrogen in soy milk, lol..
