Imagine if you were an artist and could use a park as your very own canvas?
That is exactly what Luftwerk’s creators, Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero plan to do. The Chicago-based artistic duo will display a first-ever exhibition in Millennium Park of color, lights, sound, and dimension. Cloud Gate, better known as “The Bean” to Chi-Towners, and the AT&T Plaza will be transformed into an outdoor stage of multi-shapes and rainbow hues all set to the sound of music.
Geometric shapes and images will appear, then change to the beat of music provided by Owen Clayton Condon, composed especially for this art display. Condon is a member of Chicago’s hip classical ensemble Third Coast Percussion.
Come out and marvel during “Luminous Field’s” installation, February 10-20, 2012, every day, Sunday through Thursday from 6pm until 9pm; Fridays and Saturdays, from 6pm until 10pm. Bring the whole family out to the AT&T Plaza to enjoy all types of activities and view music and dance performances. Attend an interactive show presented by Collaboraction, a local theater group, bringing you games inspired by “Luminous Field.” You can even join in on the dancing fun!
More games, dance lessons, arts and crafts, sing-alongs, and fun family activities will take place in a heated tent on Chase Promenade North. Food and beverages are available at the Park Grill. Family activities are happening from February 11-13 and February 18-20, from 11am until 3pm. It’s an event for Chi-Town citizens of all ages.
Millennium Park is located downtown at Michigan Avenue and Washington/Randolph Streets and is easily accessible by public transpo, just click here. Admission is FREE.
