Puberty problems or something else?

Q:I’ve been really weak lately, and moody.and I get dizzy really easily and randomly.most of the time I just feel like sleeping. Oh, the fatigue is awful. And sometimes I just snap at random people for no reason at all. My friend says I may be bipolar, but I’m pretty sure that’s not it. Someone else said it may be anorexia, but I don’t starve myself. Sure, I have had weight loss, but nothing big. Can anyone help me here?

When I was 13/14, I remember having symptoms just like that. Though I suffered from depression, I was also hitting a growth spurt in my life, which does require a lot of rest of the body. As for becoming dizzy, that can be caused from several things. Maybe you drink to much soda and aren’t getting enoug water. Or maybe you do have an underlying medical condition. If you notice a sever change in mood/happiness etc. then er on the side of caution and realize this might be an early sign of depression.
You are very definitely not bipolar, for which you can be thankful. The cycles in bipolar disorder are much longer than people generally believe. Anyone whose mood changes from minute to minute is very unlikely to be bipolar. Bipolar 1 is characterised by mood episodes lasting many months, while Bipolar 2 has episodes in the region of weeks to months. Rapid and ultra-rapid cycling bipolar disorder is rare, and cycles last days to weeks. It sounds like something physical, so see a doctor if it persists, but do tell your friend she’s a jerk.
This sounds like something you should see you doctor about. To try and diagnose something like this here is out of the question and I wouldn’t even try. To many questions arise, what’s your age, your eating habits, what’s your daily schedule like, etc. Do you see what I mean?
If you think you are bipolar then you should go to a doctor to make sure that’s what it is. But only if you or a loved one think it’s a problem. If that’s not the problem then it’s probably just the stress of being a teen.
Sounds like depression. I had similar symptoms a few years ago. I wasn’t trying to lose weight, but I dropped about 35 pounds. I would be so tired. I could have slept all day if you let me. I was put on an anti-depressants and it made a world of difference. Talk to your doctor and discuss what is going on with your health. Take care of yourself and good luck.
