Betty White Attends Diamonds Not Fur Gala & Special Performance by Recording Artist Fawn

Glamour, Glitter, Diamonds and Old Hollywood Style was the scene at the Diamonds Not Fur red carpet and gala benefit held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at club Voyeur in West Hollywood, CA.

“Even though there has been so much controversy over Betty White in the animal rights community, It was still exciting to see her up close and personal — she is a living legend, and if it helps this cause, I am all for that.” said recording artist and animal activist FAWN. Fawn continues “I think that the success of the Diamonds Not Fur gala is evidence that change is in the air for a more compassionate world. It was so packed a person couldn’t even move. It is moving to see people from all walks of life come out to just say no to fur! I feel honored to be a small part of this important cause. As a proud rescuer of wolf dogs, as well as other creatures I am passionate about ending the use of fur in this world, once and for all.”

The event was hosted by Katie Cleary, actress/supermodel, event founder and host. The purpose of the event was to raise funds for spcaLA & Animal Alliance in support of Fur Free West Hollywood. Club Voyeur is located at 7969 Santa Monica Boulevard in the City of West Hollywood, CA 90046. Legendary and TV Icon Betty White goes to the stage and presents “Diamonds Not Fur Humanitarian Award” to spcaLA President, Madeline Bernstein and special performances by The Mad Musician and hit recording artist Fawn.
“I was very pleased with the enthusiastic turn out for the event last evening both in terms of attendees and press showing an interest in the Fur Free WeHo campaign! I am on of Fawn’s biggest fans. I never tire of hearing her sing her hit song “Wish U Love”! said Ellen Lavinthal, President, Animal Alliance, an animal rescue and advocacy organization and Co-organizer, Fur Free WeHo campaign.

Some of the notable celebrities, politicians and personalities in presence were Betty White, Elaine Hendrix, Fawn, Katie Cleary-Stern, Tyler Mane, Derek Mears, Jennifer Bunney, Jayde Nicole, Jessica Hall, Jasmine Dustin, Shannon Keith, Gene Blalock, Ellen Lavinthal, Katerina Van Derham, Katie Kelton, Katie Lohmann, Sonya Eddie, Simona Williams, Shelley Mack, Quinton Aaron, Marisa Lauren, Liz Leyda, Seroril Pond, Darcie Odom, Itlia Ricci, Robbie Amel, John D-Amico, Alana Curry, Dr. Mark Valinsky, Ari Ruiz, Michael Colorge.

“It was an honor and a privilege to attend the Diamonds Not Fur red carpet event to benefit the SCAPLA & Animal Alliance in support of Free Fur WeHo at club Voyeur in West Hollywood. There was a full capacity crowd of several hundred people all night long. I believe about $15 thousand dollars may be even more, was raised during the live auction in less then an hour. It was a great event with free food and drinks and all people enjoying themselves. Television star and humanitarian Betty White was there to support the cause. What a great spirit and true celebrity she is!” said Dr. Mark Valinsky.

Laura Rebecca Silverman, owner/designer of ArtiZen Beads, hand made an elegant Gold Fill and Swarovski Crystal necklace as a tribute to Old Hollywood Glamor as one of the auction items, which sold. When people commented on her stunning piece she simply said: “It’s an honor to be able to use my talent for animals in need who have no voice of their own.”

City Council Member, John D’Amico announced at the event that the West Hollywood Council will be voting on the ban on the sale of fur apparel on September 19, 2011 and organizers of Fur Free WeHo are encouraging supporters to come out to support this unprecedented ban and watch history being made.
The event tickets were $100 per person which included complimentary drinks, delicious cupcakes by D Cups Cupcakes, appetizers and gift bags made this event a glamour’s to be part of and to show support for the animals who are not able to speak up.
