This is the beginning of a 52 part series of Bible Lessons for toddlers and small children. These lessons are meant to be used in your own home. My family and I will be using Monday as our Bible lesson day. It is very important to teach your own children about God and your children. God put it upon my heart to do this for my children, to teach them about Him.

Things you will need

Start off the lesson with a prayer-Throughout this series we will use the Children’s Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep

I pray the Lord my soul to keep

If I die before I wake

I pray thee Lord my soul to take

The Children’s prayer is the perfect prayer to teach your children when they are toddlers. It is easy to remember your children can say it before they go to sleep each night and it teaches your children to pray to God

Faith as Small as a Mustard Seed

Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Boy

14 When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.”

17 “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18 Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.

19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”

20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

This is the activity part of your lesson.

Teacher-buy some mustard seed and bring it into class, show your children how small mustard seeds really are. Explain to them what Jesus mean by faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. You can also show the children pictures mustard seeds after they are grown into a large plant.

Have your students glue mustard seeds to form mountains, help them or let them be creative with this part of the lesson.

Teacher- bring in pictures of some of the largest mountains we have on this earth and show them to the children.

Have the smallest child come to the front of the class. Tell the children this child is small, but their faith in god can do big things. Even as little children faith in God can do incredible things.Have this child read Matthew 13:31, 32 if they are able to.

31 He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

Let your children know that even though they are small, they can do great things for the kingdom of God

If you have a small class-encourage each child individually and talk to them about their talents and how they can use them for God-This can be very important if you are teaching this lesson to your own children

End your lesson with the Lord’s Prayer- (10 minutes) if this is the first time your children say the Lord’s prayer, it may take ten minutes to teach them, otherwise two minutes is enough time to recite the Lord’s Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer

“Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.” (Matthew 6:9-13)
