Tips for Writing on Associated Content

Whether you’ve just joined Associated Content or are a seasoned pro, everyone could use a little help with tips and guides for AC. At first sight, it seems as though you’re working for peanuts (and maybe you are) but just because you haven’t instantly hit it big doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

Here are a few ways to boost your success with Associated Content.

Write often. At Associated Content, you have the luxury of writing about anything you want. I graduated with a film degree, so I write about the media, I interview celebrities, etc. I also have to pay all those student loans back, so I write articles to help other people save money.

You’ve got to be good at something, so use that to help someone who isn’t. I have a full time job working at a bank, so I’ve written articles about saving money and types of loans and investments that I know about, but you might not.

The more articles you write, the more money you’ll earn. Not only that, but the more articles you write, the more people will read them, and the more you’ll earn in performance payments. And the more people that are reading the articles, the higher clout level you’ll reach. That just means that the more people read your articles, the more money you’ll earn just because people read your articles.

Build on what you write. If you’ve written an article on how to build a shed, don’t stop there. What about painting the shed? What about outdoor work? You’d be surprised how many times one article will give you an idea for another. It wasn’t until I wrote an article on weddings that I realized how many ways you could save money on each aspect of a wedding. So I wrote a lot of smaller articles instead of one long article.

Shorter articles are easier for the audience to read. No one wants to sit through 42 pages of a how-to article. Keep it short & sweet. I try to never go over 3 pages, but everyone is different.

Network. The easiest way to get people to read your articles is to make them available. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and any other networking site is a perfect place to showcase your articles. Email them to friends and family so they can see it. If you’ve written about something specific, make sure it hits that audience. For instance, if you write about a TV show, post it on “groups” on facebook for that TV show, or tweet it.

Use the assignment desk. I don’t always go with the assignments, but they’re nice ideas for days when I don’t have any topics in mind to write about.
