Are There Facts Behind the Rumors Involving Susan Lucci and Her Refusal to Sign with Prospect Park

The world loves rumors. The world loves stars such as Susan Lucci aka Erica Kane from “All My Children.” Seems the world is having a field day combining the two of them this week.

What is the latest? The latest is that the main star of “All My Children” Susan Lucci has refused to sign with Prospect Park. The rumor went on to say that she was offered the same deal she currently has. The reason why she turned down this rumor was that she wanted more money, she wanted more days off and she wanted a deal to work on one of Prospect Park’s other television shows as well. Is this a true rumor?

Well let’s look at some facts.

Susan has been quoting on more than one television show stating how much she loves working on “All My Children.” She has also stated that she loves her fans. This show has made her the icon she is today.

Now let’s look at the timing. Reports have been coming out that Susan has added a new chapter to her book: “All My Life.” In this chapter, she supposedly blasts Brian Frons, the chief of ABC daytime. One quote from the book is suppose to read: “If Brian Frons could show his bosses that he could save the network 40 percent … he could keep his job even if the rest of us lost ours,” this quote references his decision to replace “All My Children” with the new food show that nobody seems to want to watch. She went on to say: “I watched Brian Frons’ decisions destroy the production of our show and the lives of people on both sides of the country.” She also stated that Frons had both “ignorance and arrogance,” and that she couldn’t think of another network executive who would “choose to alienate millions of loyal viewers in these economic times.”

One has to admit that since everyone’s focus has been on the book, it does look a bit funny that suddenly reports are coming out that Susan suddenly has no interest in helping to revitalize “All My Children.” This could mean that the reports are not coming from Susan or Prospect Park. The reports could be coming from people who are angry at what Susan is saying.

So what should the fans think? Personally, this writer thinks the fans should all take a deep breath and wait and see what happens. We all should wait and see what the end brings.

We need to wait and hear a statement from Prospect Park and Susan Lucci. There is still time for further contract negotiations. If in the end, Susan does decide not to sign, it will be sad yes. We all will grieve at the lost. But we also should remember what we gained and we need to remember the great showbiz motto: THE SHOW MUST GO ON.

And “All My Children” and “One Life To Live” will go on thanks to Prospect Park. Now, we wait for the real news we want to hear. That it will live online, as well as on a cable television network!
