‘Dancing with the Stars’ Results Show: Metta World Peace, Formerly Ron Artest, Eliminated in Week One

Usually on Tuesday nights with “Dancing with the Stars” it is the one-hour results show starting at 9 p.m. ET. Sometimes they will have a pre-show that features only recaps of the previous night’s performances. However, we were treated instead to a special one-hour program of “Meet the Cast” before the results. It introduced each couple one by one. We saw brief snippets of their dance along with some other never-before-seen footage. One of the best highlights from this pre-show was the encore dance. Len Goodman announced they wanted to see again Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya cha-cha-cha to “Moves Like Jagger.”

The former Ron Artest, now Metta World Peace, was the first to be in jeopardy. That was not too surprising. However, when the next set of three dancers was awaiting their fates one of them was Elisabetta Canalis. This was supposed to be another “no brainer.” If they wanted to insert a “shocker” into this results show they certainly achieved that. Former George Clooney girlfriend was safe for another week. Instead, it was Rob Kardashian who was in jeopardy.

We were introduced to the replacing “Dancing with the Stars” troupe as well as the original cast from last season. Harry Connick, Jr. performed in the first half hour from his upcoming Broadway musical “On A Clear Day You Can See Forever.” Later on these three couples were brought out: Chynna & Tony, Chaz & Lacey and J.R. & Karina. It was obvious Chynna and J.R. would be safe as they were the leading scorers. That meant Chaz was likely to be in jeopardy, but that was not to be the case. He was deemed safe and received warm hugs from the other couples. The crowd was ecstatic too.

LMFAO performed their mash-up of songs that was certainly infectious you couldn’t stop moving. It was interesting to see Bruno and Carrie get into the act. The last group of couples consisted of Nancy Grace, who was later in jeopardy. Rob Kardashian was the first to be sent back for one more week. Metta and Nancy Grace were in the bottom two. It was no shock to hear Metta was going home. He received the lowest score of the night. His name change also went into effect, so he is no longer called Ron Artest.
