Keys to a Healthy Marriage

As we all know, marriage is made up of components rather like a car and to keep it running smoothly requires regular maintenance. Communication is like gas, without it you’ll be going nowhere fast . If you find it difficult to talk about your issues face to face then write a letter. This way you will have the time and separation to get your points across without being stopped or having the discussion become heated. Keep the language calm and thoughtful, sometimes words can hurt so be sure to choose them carefully. Leave a sheet of paper and a pen near the letter so that your spouse can respond in turn.

Sex is like the motor without a tune up every now and then you will not be pleased with the results. Don’t use it as a weapon as that only breeds resentment and after all you have needs too. Now this activity although fun, goes much deeper (no pun intended) than you think. It bonds people and when you are each receiving the attention that you need it satisfies the body and feeds the soul. Again communication makes an entrance, the best sex happens when you can be open and if that means a sexy note then so be it.

Healthy minds and bodies go hand in hand so do some fun activities together. Take the dog for a walk, play with a Frisbee, go swimming, play tennis, try ice skating, check out a museum. Okay so the last one may seem odd but it involves movement, learning new things and possibly looking at beautiful antiquities. If nothing else it’s something to talk about.

It’s important to make time for each other and while that’s not always easy with busy schedules and children, it’s vital if you want to succeed. A happy relationship is the foundation of a solid family unit.
