Do you have limited time but want to participate in a Halloween craft that you and your child will enjoy? This pumpkin craft is very easy and can be completed rather quickly. Kids will enjoy making these easy pumpkins. They might even want to make more than one.
Time to complete craft: about 5 minutes
Materials needed:
coffee filter(s)
orange and green crayons
tissues, newspaper or aluminum foil
black magic marker or googly eyes
glue
twist ties or rubber bands
green magic marker (optional)
Directions:
1. Lay the coffee filter out flat.
2. Color the coffee filter orange, leaving a very small border around the outer edge of the coffee filter. (If working with younger children, you may have to help hold the coffee filter flat while they color.)
3. Color the small outer border of the coffee filter green, using a green crayon or magic marker. (This will be the pumpkin stem.)
4. Flip the coffee filter over so that it is color side down.
5. Fill center of coffee filter with about 3 tissues balled up, or a small ball of aluminum foil, or a small ball of newspaper.
6. Pull up sides of the coffee filter around the ball.
7. Seal with a rubber band or twist tie.
8. Add googly eyes or use the magic marker to draw eyes, nose and mouth on the pumpkin.
Idea for the classroom: Many schools teach the younger children Halloween songs that they perform in front of the school or in front of parents. Have each child make one of these quick and easy pumpkins to use as a prop to add to a Halloween performance.
