Does my girlfriend have a vaginal blood clot or could it be a miscariage?

Q: My girlfriend has been on ortho evra (birth control patch) for one month now. She wore it for 3 weeks then on the 4th you take it off and get your period. She took it off 3 days ago and today got what she thought was her period. She put a pad on and later today she felt like she peed her pants and checked and there was more blood than usual and there was a piece of bloody tissue that kind of looked like afterbirth or something about the size of a quarter. What could this be? She can’t tell her parents and is hesitant about going to a doctor. Can anyone help?She would have to go to planned parenthood and really doesn’t want to. Does anyone have more info on what exactly a vaginal blood clot is or looks like? She also has been having really bad cramps these last two days and has never had them before during her period, but this was also the first time she has been on birth control. AH, please help!

A: some birth control can cause a girls period to be either lighter or heavier than normal. Did the blood go through the pad? if she bleeds so much that the pads aren’t working then she will need to see a doctor, the loss of blood can cause anemia. I miss carried when i was younger and ended up having to have two blood transfusions from loss of blood. If she isn;t bleeding quite that heavily leave it a few days, if the bleeding doesn’t slow then seek medical help!

Q: I went to the ER because i had some bleeding the er called it a “threatened miscarriage the ER ran lots of tests and ultrasounds and the conclusion was that blood levels looked good like a normal pregnancy the ultrasound showed everything was intact. I saw my dr who did another ultrasound the followind day and he said everything looked good and intact also, just to monitor how much blood.. if i had alot of blood then to call him immediately and to go to ER again, and he put me out of work for one week to take it easy and rest. I have a two yr old so resting is not easy, but i am trying my discharge is stringy light colored blood. but i am not cramping i have an occasional lower abd pain, but i am unsure about if it rest will help keep baby or if i am bound to lose baby. i went through a recent miscariage and it is scary for us right now. Unsure of what to expect.. with my son i had an emergency c-section so they are thinking that if on my second blood test the hormone levels have doubled nothing to worry but if they have not then i am not sure what to expect. can someone shine some light on what might be to come or expected or what would help to keep this pregnancy? or just some information? anything is apperciated…ah and the blood is still kinda spotty but at times turns stringy no smell and no cramping.. but went from dark color to lightnew symptom came up today and unsure of to worry or not… goin to see doc tomorrow… but if worse then ER… I am nausa and dieahrea now stomach uneasy unsure if it is just a bug or what but don’t know if it will hurt the baby

A: I had some blood at twelve weeks, I went to the Doctors and they told me it was ok, and every thing was good. Then after that I had the same kind of discharge for a while. Then I was standing in the kitchen and blood all of a sudden was gushing to my feet. I went to the ER and they told me I lost my baby at twelve weeks and a few days. So take it easy and rest for awhile,make sure you take time for yourself. I wish you the best of luck… and just remember everything happens for a reason.
