MAYBE! what health problems are there? what could happen to the puppies? will it affect her later in life? i am panicking. I have no kids so my dogs are my kids. and if she is pregnant should i make my neighbors pay for all her vet bills since it was their dog and he was in my yard??? how would i do that? PLEASE HELP!!! i am so scared for her. She is so beautiful and i dont want her to be a mom yet, i know she isnt ready… any advice would be appreciatedThank youA Concerned Momok well where i live your dog either has to be on a chain while outside or inside a fence. and that dog has not been tied up since i have been here. I dont think it is my fault if she is prego so quit saying it is. and yes i do want to breed her not to make money but i think everyone(even dogs) should have at least one kid/ puppy. and then i will fix her… DONT blame me. A: the decision about having your dog spayed is up to you. your vet can spay a pregnant dog but it will be more dangerous to the dog and more expensive to you. if your vet doesn’t think the dog is in danger i say let her have the litter and place them in good homes. i can tell you some very sad stories about breeding but that won’t really help you make your decision. you need to discuss this with your vet. good luck.

Q: my husband and I have a house full of animals (true animal lovers),and we’re currently 37 weeks pregnant with our first child (very excited)so my question is this: what did you do with your pets while you were in labor???did you have a friend come over and watch them?did you board them at a pet-hotel or vet clinic?did you hire a pet-sitter to come by the house for a few hours day?I understand that if I give birth vaginally I’ll only be in the hospital for 24 hours after I give birth, and if I end up having to have a c-section then I’ll have to be in the hospital for 3 days after I give birth, plus the time I’m in labor (we’re aiming for a vaginal birth if nothing goes wrong, as natural as possible)————————————————————————————————-background:we have 3 hamsters, one 2-year old cat, and one 7-year old basset houndwe’ve already started the process of preparing the cat and the dog:-we play tapes of babies crying loudly so they get used to the noise-we enrolled the dog in a basic obedience class-we have our friends bring over their young children to pet the animals-we enrolled the dog in doggie day care once a week for exercise-we found a dog walker to help with postpartum walks-we don’t let them in the nursery, so they are used to not going in there-we have a friend whose going to bring home baby’s first cap from the hospital for them to smell before we bring the baby home, so they can get used to the scentI’m a stay-at-home wife, student, and mom-to-beso all of the animals are used to a certain level of daily attention-the hamsters each get 20 minutes of time outside the cage a day (we have a play-pen for them)-the cat gets hours a day of cuddle-time in my lap while I study, plus he knows how to play fetch so we do that everyday too-the dog gets 3-4 walks a day, at least one walk that lasts about 3 miles (yes, even being almost 9 months pregnant I still walk my dog at least 3 miles, we both enjoy the time outside)none of the fur-babes have ever been left home alone for more than 12 hours at a time, and none of them have ever been boarded- we don’t travel very often and when we do travel, we take them with -so I’m nervous for them to be at home for a day or two while my husband and I are at the hospitalmy husband and I are leaning towards having his a couple of his friends (depending on the time of day) take turns coming over to feed them and walk the dog for us(they offered to do it for us otherwise we’d never ask)If we do this I’m thinking that I’ll bake some fresh cookies and cake from scratch to put out for them as a “thank you”-Do you think they’d appreciate that?

A: Wow! I think you are an organized person! Congratualtions on the baby! Let’s see…we didn’t worry about or pets too much when I went into labor. We had family and neighbors we could call if we needed to. But my husband (now ex) would take breaks and go back home. I really don’t feel you need to board them away, I think if you do they may get really stressed out and then when they come home you’ve brought home this “thing” that has now taken a lot of your time and energy. I would rely on family or friends during your labor, and after if need be. It’s going to be an adjustment for everyone, but we had a dog and a cat and they all adjusted very well. although I do like the fact your keeping them out of the nursery. My cat wouldn’t stay off the freshly cleaned warm fleece baby blankets on the bottom of our changing table…that was my only complaint Well, good luck to you!! I wish you the best momma!!
