Quick Sand for the Jaguars in Week Two Against the Jets

Have you ever watched a movie called The Replacements?

The Replacements, a comedy loosely based on the NFL strike of 1987, starring Keanu Reeves, Gene Hackman, Brooke Langton, Orlando Jones, and Faizon Love. In the move Keanu Reeves played a QB named Falco, and Gene Hackman played the coach Jimmy McGinty.

In the movie the coach is having a team meeting and ask the players: (What fears they have on the field?)

Falco replies with an answer: (Quicksand.)

Watching the Jaguars play today against the Jets reminded me of this movie. It is exactly what happened to the Jaguars. How it was described in the movie is like this : It starts with one on bad thing happening, and than another, and another, and than nothing goes your way and you are swallowed up like quick sand.

Jacksonville lost 32-3 in week 2 to the Jets. Luke Mcown had four interceptions, and the only bright side to the offense was Maurice Jones-Drew had 88 yards in running but never scored a touchdown. Matter of fact the only play that worked for the Jaguars was a 55 yard field goal by Scobee.

The defense of the Jaguars even had two interceptions from Sanchez but failed to score on the turnovers.

There was also a lot of penalties in this game on both sides of the field. Matter of fact there was two calls against the Jaguars that seemed like they needed to be reviewed. One was a helmet to helmet penalty that cost the Jaguars 15 yards, and another roughing the QB that was 15 yards. In the end the Jaguars racked up 50 yards in penalties, and the Jets racked up 60 yards.

Jaguars also made some stupid decisions with ball getting pinned with in the 10 yard line from a return kick. That lead to a safety. The game steadily declined for the offense after that. The Jets made a statement and also showed other teams how to shut down the Jaguars offense. If the Jaguars think that the model they planned was wear them down and run the ball is going to work against some of the teams coming up like the Ravens and Steelers the Jaguar fans better be ready for a long road ahead this year.

The bright side is the Jaguar fans got a small taste of Blaine Gabbert towards the end of the game. However I want to point out that Luke Mcown had pretty much taken a pretty good beating from the Jets by that point. The Jets did not need to bring the defense as much as they had the game well in hand.

So the Question is will the Jaguars fix all these issues going into week three against the Panthers?

Who will be the starting QB?

Is this going to be the same old Jaguars of yesterday ?
