2011 RANKINGS

1. San Francisco 49ers = Ari —– A top 3 scoring fantasy football defense entering this week, the 49ers will definitely have an opportunity to rack up the best fantasy football scoring output among all defenses this week. The 49ers should easily be considered the #1 ranked fantasy football defense this week based on matchups.

2. Green Bay Packers = TB —– Josh Freeman has been a mess at QB for the Buccaneers offense this season, and facing a turnover creating Green Bay Packers defense will likely not change his fortunes this week.

3. New York Jets = @Den —– After coming into last weeks matchup as a red hot defense, the New York Jets fell back to earth a little as Tom Brady and the Patriots offense had their way with them. Luckily though a much weaker Denver Broncos offense with virtually no passing game should prove to be just what the Jets need to get back on track.

4. Detroit Lions = Car —– Granted the Lions defense did not do great against Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears offense last week, but they are still one of the best defenses at getting pressure on the QB and creating turnovers.

5. Chicago Bears = SD —– The Chicago Bears defense looked excellent in last weeks matchup against the high power Detroit Lions passing attack, and so a matchup against the turnover prone Philip Rivers this week could lead to another couple of interceptions and sacks for the Bears in this game.

6. Baltimore Ravens = Cin —– The Ravens has been awful over the past two weeks, and that goes for both the defense and the offense. Luckily though the Ravens defense will face a rookie QB and an injured rookie WR in this game, so there is plenty of potential for the Ravens to finally be a top 5 scoring fantasy football defense this week.

7. Dallas Cowboys = @Was —– The Cowboys defense was excellent last week in holding the Buffalo Bills offense, and a matchup against a much weaker QB, RB and WR play from the Redskins offense in this game could easily lead to another excellent fantasy day for the Cowboys defense this week.

8. New England Patriots = KC —– 37% — The Patriots defense a starting option in fantasy football lineups this week? Yep, especially if Matt Cassel is out and Tyler Palko gets the starting nod.

9. Atlanta Falcons = Ten —– 27% — The Falcons defense is not great, but it is not terrible either. In which case, a matchup against a so-so Tennessee Titans offense this week makes the Falcons worth a spot start.

10. Oakland Raiders = @Min —– 22% — The Raiders are on the rise, and if they can contain Adrian Peterson on the ground, then it is quite possible they could force rookie Christian Ponder into some bad throws and turnovers.

11. New York Giants = Phi —– If Michael Vick is out for this game, the Giants defense definitely becomes a better fantasy start this week. And then again, even if Vick does play with those two broken ribs, the Giants are sure to bring plenty of pressure that will likely force Vick into some bad throws and sacks.

12. Philadelphia Eagles = @NYG —– I personally would not recommend starting the Eagles defense this week, but it is a huge divisonial game that they MUST win if they are to stay somewhat in the playoff picture.

13. Minnesota Vikings = Oak —– The Minnesota Vikings defense can still get pressure on the QB, but that is only if their secondary can cover…….and the truth is their secondary is awful, especially with the season ending injury to Antoine Winfield in last weeks game. Carson Palmer is always an interception and sack possibility, so a little potential is still there for the Vikings defense if fantasy teams need a replacement this week.

14. Buffalo Bills = @Mia —– 49% — The Bills are worth a gamble if need be, and i do stress ‘gamble.’

15. Jacksonville Jaguars = @Cle —– 15% — Another defense worth a gamble for fantasy football teams looking for a spot starting defense this week.

16. San Diego Chargers = @Chi —– Yikes the Chargers defense has been awful in recent weeks, but Jay Cutler always offers opposing defense the opportunity to tally sacks and interceptions.

17. Cincinnati Bengals = @Bal —– With the way that the Ravens offense has been playing lately, it is not crazy to think that the Bengals defense is actually an excellent sleeper start this week for fantasy football lineups in need.

18. Tennessee Titans = @Atl

19. Arizona Cardinals = @SF

20. Seattle Seahawks = @StL

21. Miami Dolphins = Buf

22. St. Louis Rams = Sea

23. Cleveland Browns = Jac

24. Washington Redskins = Dal

25. Denver Broncos = NYJ

26. Kansas City Chiefs = @NE

27. Carolina Panthers = @Det

28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers = @GB
