Urinary Track Infection?
Q: I went to bed Thursday night and woke up Friday with a sore throat, runny nose, fever, and head ache. I still went on with my day thinking it was just a head cold or something. Than Friday night I started feeling really dizzy and sick to my stomach so I went to bed early. I woke up and still felt really sick and vomited 2-3 times running a 102.2 fever and my head ache turned into a severe migraine. I had constant diarrhea and I couldn’t keep any fluids down. Once I got relaxed enough I went back to bed and sleep and tried to get more rest. These symptoms went on all day Sunday and into Monday. I figured It was just a viral infection and I needed to just let it do its thing and get plenty of rest. By late Monday I started to experience sharp pain going up the back of my neck right up to my head causing really sharp pain. I called the ER and they said to come on in. When I got there the gave me an IV to keep me hydrated and they said they need to do a spinal tap to test for meningitis. They did all this and took a urine test. The Doctor came in and told me that I don’t have meningitis but I do have a Urinary track Infection along with a Viral Infection. They gave me antibiotics to treat the Urinary Infection, but I still convinced that that’s not all it is. Also is there anything that I can do to help with the pain from where they gave me the spinal tap?
A: it’s tract not track. Take tylenol if the spinal tap site hurts. Take all the antibiotics as ordered for the urinary tract infection. You have classic symptoms for the flu, nothing more. They checked you out thoroughly, if there had been anything more, they would have dealt with it then. Stop being paranoid.
