The Copper Dock Winery; Pocahontas; Illinois

Over the Labor Day weekend some friends along with my wife visited the Copper Dock Winery. This article is a winery review of this establishment.

Location
This winery is located just off Interstate 70 in west central Illinois. It is about a 45 minute drive from the city of St. Louis, Missouri. Exit at the Pocahontas exit and go west one fourth of a mile. You will see a large group of copper grapes on your right. Follow the rock lane for another fourth of a mile and you have arrived.

There is a large wooded area that surrounds a large lake. To your left is a large reception hall and on the right is the winery. There is lots of available parking. The walking distance is very short.

Seating
You seat yourself at one of the many tables. However, you can make reservations. Tables are located on the double dock, along the banks of the lake and on the large patio. They are currently adding a large dining area in the bar area. It should be complete by the winter season.

Service
Once we seated our-self, we had about five minute wait for our waitress. I believe this was because of the over flow crowd that they had. However, we were not in a hurry on this Labor Day weekend. Once our order was taken, the food arrived promptly. Our waitress checked on us every few moments.

Food
They serve soups, salads, sandwiches and pizza. Don’t be mislead. Their menu is outstanding. Prices are reasonable and you get a lot to eat for your money.

Wines and Spirits
Although they do not make their own wine, They have a large variety of wines. Each glass cost $4.50. They also have wine by the bottle and the cost varies. You can also get beer and mixed drinks. They were reasonably priced. Your bottled wine is served in an ice bucket to your table.

They have one of the prettiest bars, that I have ever seen. There is a picture of it on their web site above. The bar area is not very large. Once the addition is complete, there will be more indoor space.

Recommendation
If you live in the area and enjoy visiting a winery, I suggest giving the Copper Dock a look. My experience was very enjoyable.
