‘Toys R Us’ Swing Sets Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

Approximately 5,500 Playsafe Dartmouth Swing Sets that were sold exclusively through “Toys R Us” stores nationwide have been recalled due to a fall hazard, the CPSC announced. The Pacific Cycle children’s sling style swing seats may crack or split prematurely causing the swing to break apart from the set resulting in falls and injuries. The swing sets were manufactured in China and sold nationwide through stores from January to May 2011 for approximately $270.00. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there have been five reports of the seats breaking while the swing was in use. No fatalities or serious injuries have been reported. The children injured suffered cuts, scrapes and bruises.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention falls are the leading cause of non-fatal injuries for children through ages 0-19. An estimated 8,000 children visit U.S. emergency rooms daily for injuries attributed to falls.

Those who have the recalled swing sets are told to stop using the seats immediately and to remove them from the set. Contact Pacific Cycle to obtain free replacement seats. You may contact Pacific Cycle on their toll free number 1-877-564-2261 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, CT, Monday through Friday.
