Has anyone ever heard of anhaphilaxis caused by working out?

Q:I have in the past needed an epipen on hand to administer when this happened. It has happened a few times. I break out in wheels and hives itchy mouth swelling throat and airway restriction. I went to an allergy dr and he said he has never seen this before ( as though he didnt believe me) but I have been to the er for it a hand full of times. It can happen when I play tennis, run, play basketball, sweating mainly. Anyone ever hear of this? Oh yeah and a contact dermatitis to top it off even when I am not active… HELP!

I heard of this in medical school. I wonder where your allergist trained? Also cold temperatures can do it, and any number of foods, or just emotional upset sometimes, not to mention insect bites, pollen and all the other allegens. I used to have that happen and read up on it, and some studies suggested that it is associated with times in your life when you are in the middle of large changes, and you are unsure of the direction your life is taking. Somehow it is associated with small imbalances in the complement cascade system, and is called angioneurotic edema.I was separated from my husband at the time and decided to finally divorce him, and have never had another episode like that. Make whatever change you need to make and get some real direction in your life, and see if that makes it better.
First of all, anaphylaxis is caused by the ingestion of a substance that otherwise disagrees with your body. So I wonder are you taking some kind of a supplement, such as creatine, before you workout?
I know what ya mean about the er.I’ve been alot of times swelling out of control and they would call other Dr.’s in to “look at me”,I felt like a freak. It hasn’t got that bad in a couple of yrs thank God,but anyway I have chronic hives, when I do anything athletic, alot of walking, out they come!!Especially stress. And when there in your mouth,in your ears, your scalp,it’s miserable.Good luck!!
