Q: so the last day of my last period was dec. 25th; me and my fiance had sex on the 26th and he came in me. i was late for my period in jan. but it came a week late but was only 4 days which is weird because my periods are always a week long. and i still don’t have a period for feb. and these are all the symptoms i have.-sore nipples. they are like always hard and are gettin like a purplish tint to them; seems like they are getting darker or something.-my boobs look a bit bigger then usual but they don’t hurt.-sooooooooo tired; but lately when i try to go to bed; i cant go to sleep.-my lower abdomen; like where my uterus is; hurts; like it’s crampy; like if i cough it hurts.-having more headaches.-some lower back pain but not alot.-i feel nauseous if i dont eat; and even if i still feel like that when i eat i dont throw up.so could i be pregnant? and if you think so; do you think it’s a good chance i am?also; if not; what could be causing all of this???and i do have a drs appt on monday.also; it kind of hurts to like suck in my stomach; i used to do it all the time but now it’s uncomfortable.

A: It sounds like you could be pregnant – but are you saying that the day in December is the only day you could’ve conceived? If so you’d be 10 weeks pregnant by now. You could certainly be having pregnancy symptoms, and all of what you are describing could be symptoms of pregnancy. When you have morning sickness, making sure you don’t have an empty stomach helps – so that fits, too. It is not just missed periods that may signal pregnancy – a period that is unusual for you is also a sign for some women.I think that there is a good chance that you are 🙂 In fact, I’m just gonna say congratulations cos I think you probably are 🙂

Q: (i posted this in another section but didnt get much response, i’m hoping the TTC’ers could help)Ok, first off i’m 29, mother of 2 in a long term relationship and i’m on the pill [Marvelon]. BUT i know what it feels like to be pregnant and for the last 5 days i’ve had sore boobs that spread to pain under my arms, sensitive sore nipples, nausea, an increased amount of cervical secretions to an almost creamy texture and tummy cramps that feel like period pains except I’m not due on for another week and normally have NO PMT symptoms as i’m on the pill. Today i noticed a glob of jellylike slightly yellow/brown tinged mucous after i had been to the loo. I also just noticed my favourite smell (grilled cheese) is turning my stomach and making me feel sick :(I have thus far had negative pregnancy test results and i’m not due to finish the end of my pack until next SaturdayIm wondering whether i could in fact be ovulating, a fluke occurance on the pill?? Or could it be pregnancy symptoms.Its odd that this could happen on the pill although i know nothing is 100% effective, i take my pill like clockwork at 8pm every night [i have an alarm on my phone so i can never forget]on all my other pill cycles i have NEVER had any of these symptoms.Do you think its just a 1 off odd occurance, could i be testing a bit too early still (They are highly sensitive tests, First Response)We are prepared and happy if this has been a fluke of nature and have conceived, although it wouldnt an ideal time 😉 (but then, when is it ever?)Thanks in advanceCanberra

A: Okay, first, and I know it is hard, don’t test until the first day of your missed period. Otherwise you’re just throwing money down the drain. Secondly, these symptoms can be ovulation related, or PMT related. On the other hand, unless you are religious about what time of day you take the pill, there is a chance of pregnancy. I am living proof you can become pregnant on the pill. Good luck either way.
