Can’t Afford My Home?
Q: Can’t Afford My HomeWhat should we do? Bought a home about 7 months ago but can’t afford to live here due to some hardships. Went for a consult with a law firm but it was nothing more than a sales pitch. We have one mortgage and didn’t refi during this time. We honestly don’t know what to do and we don’t want to get into trouble by getting sued, etc.Bottom line: the wrong figures were given to us and when we signed our closing papers those numbers changed. I didn’t know at the time that we could back out….we honestly can’t afford the mortgage even if we did a loan remod or refi’d.What are the conseqences if we short sale or foreclose? Do you need a lawyer to do the process or not?
A: It depends on your state, in CA they have a non recourse law so if you have a purchase loan you can walk away.Other states the mortgage company will sell the house for what they can then you will owe the rest.If your lender agrees to a short sale they might take the house and no pursue a judgment.
Stay at home moms WITH a Nanny?
Q: What is your opinion on stay at homes moms that get a nanny to help out? I know someone that does this and feel like it’s a bit much? Maybe I’m Jealous! Obviously she has money to afford staying home and paying someone… but what do you think. Does it say something about wanting to put effort into mothering? Is it lazy or is it just that you can afford extra help, so why not? Please no hate responses. I like to hear different view points. It helps me to see other sides to things and then allows me to view things with a more open mind. If you disagree please share in a non hateful way.
A: I’m a sahm and have a nanny. She comes a few days a week to help me with my child so I can get out and buy groceries, cook, workout or go to appointments. I agree that this is a luxury and I am lucky to have this. But Moms, before you judge, there are so many different circumstances as to why woman hire Nannies. My husband has 3 kids from his 1st marriage (who are living with us part-time), travels 2 days/week and does NOT help out with anything household (or child) related–unless I specifically ask him. (It’s interesting how our society doesn’t openly talk about the Dads and how they leave so much to the Moms in the way of child-rearing and how frustrating this is.) In my situation, if I didn’t hire someone, I’d never get a break! I have no family around me to help. My husband works so much and has so many responsibilities that I basically am responsible for every household item, plus all things child-related. Since I HAD the option (and again, realize many do NOT) I chose to hire a nanny so I could get out a bit, clear my head and get some things done w/o my child. Now that I’m pregnant again I feel even more lucky to have the nanny since I’m very tired, uncomfortable, etc. etc. I know ideally sahm’s choose to stay home and in a perfect world, we’d all have smiles on our faces and enjoy every moment we are home with our kid(s) and never complain….but if all Stay at Home Moms value their ‘jobs’ as do their husbands, partners or friends/family, why shouldn’t a Mom get a break (again, if she can)?? Being a sahm is a full-time, 24-hour job. You are always “on”. You don’t get a lunch break, 2 week vacation, 2 days off on the weekend, etc. etc. It doesn’t make you a bad Mom to care for yourself, infact, it makes you better mentally and physically. Of course, there are exceptions and there are Moms hiring nannies to take care of their kid(s) because they just don’t want to, and that’s a whole different issue altogether.
How can so many people afford expensive homes and nice toys??
Q: And I’m not talking about million dollar homes on the ocean either. From coast to coast, towns large and small. there is always the neighborhood in every single one of them where people own $250,000+ homes. I am amazed at the number of people that own them. And even if you have all kinds of credit (spending other peoples money as i read in another post) you still have to be able to afford the 2,000+ per month mortgage payment. Seriously who can do that? I am mind boggled by this. I can’t believe so many people can afford this, sometimes I feel like knocking on their door and asking “Just what is it you do?” There can’t be that many CEO’S and doctors, business owners or similiar. So seriously, what kind of work/income for these people? And if you own such a home tell me what you do!!!!
A: While credit has a HUGE impact on a persons quality of life and the things that they can bring into it. Being your own boss has much more to do with it. If you were to go to these homes and simply ask for a minute of their time to ask what they do to provide for their families more than 70% of them would most likely say that they are Entrepreneurs. In today’s unstable market and due to the current trends that are changing workplace security and success, people are changing too. People who have taken control of their families financial success. There are a lot of things out there and if you are open to look at them there are a few things that you should keep in mind that are outlined in my “Honest Opportunity” yahoo360 blog. The other thing that successful people do is hire advisers and people to protect what they have, for more info on how that can happen take a look at my “Protect Your Family” blog as well. Then of course now days to keep what you build safe you have to protect it from the rising threat of identity theft. For more information that the banks aren’t telling you check out the “Your Identity” as well. In the society we live people who want to get ahead have to be ProACTIVE about it. Going to work punching a clock has never made any one rich EVER and it never will.
