Implantation bleeding or weird period?
Q: My husband and I have been TTC for about six months; I have a regular 31-32 day cycle. I was very hopeful that this was going to be my month, but on day 33 I started bleeding but very lightly. I usually have a VERY heavy period for the second through 4th days of my flow, but this time, I bled steadily for about 16 hours (bright red at first and then like dark brown flakes of dried blood…I told you it was weird) and then completely stopped bleeding, not even a little spotting or anything. It’s been about two days since I saw a “brown dried blood flake.” My breasts are still extremely sensitive/sore which usually goes away once my period begins, and I’m still feeling a little crampy and bloated. Also, I just started charting my bbt, so I don’t know if I normally have a high reading, but since I started charting three days ago (when I thought I was starting another cycle), I’ve been getting a reading of 98.5 which according to “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” is high. Nothing like this has ever happened to me, so I’m looking for answers from others who might have experienced this or something similar; please let me know what your outcome was, too…pregnant or not? From what I have read, this does not sound like implantation bleeding, but I know this bleeding pattern is very weird for me. Does it sound like it could have been implantation bleeding or just my cycle deciding to be weird this month? I don’t want to get my hopes up, especially since I’m so tired of being disappointed each month!I really appreciate any honest answers! I’m keeping all of us mommy-want-a-be’s in my prayers!Guess what…it was implantation bleeding! Got my positive this morning!! Guess you can have a lot more than just a little spotting during the implantation!
A: Its very possible. You’ll have to wait and see and if you really think you need to take a pregancy test or blood test. It could be anything your bady changes constantly. And stress is a big factor that could be messing it up.GOOD LUCK!!
Does it sound like i’m pregnant?
Q: Hello! For starters, i’m 26, and have been with my boyfriend for 4 years. We are not TTC, but we are not trying to prevent it either, so whatever happens, happens…but i’d love to be :). My period was on Dec. 3 (my cycle is very regular, every 27-28, 29 at the most, days). I usually can tell i’m ovulating by cervical mucus, and i thought i ovulated Dec. 13 (which i know is early), but then on the 15th i had a little pink (TMI sorry!) mixed in with cervical mucus, so i’m thinking that’s acually when i ovulated. Either way, i had unprotected sex on the 14th. Shortly after, my breasts started to get tender, and increased every day. The only other thing i noticed, was that i wasn’t sleeping good at night either. I should probably say that my breasts hurt a few days before my period, but never this long. About a week later i started getting period-like cramps, although i never get period cramps until i actually have my period, and only when it is heavy. On Dec. 26, i started spotting, so of course i thought my period came. Then i realized that it was very early, only 23 days. I spotted for 3 days, and when i say spotting i mean it was brown blood, and would come and go, sometimes for 8 or 9 hours before i would see blood again. Then on the 4th day it turned red, and was heavier, more like my regular flow, and it stopped on the 6th day. Normally my period lasts 7 or 8, and it was definately not as heavy as usual. Since then, i’ve been having a mild version of period-like cramps off and on that have not completely gone away. Sore breasts went away for about a week, and came back on Jan. 8, and are getting sore again, and my nipples itch. I’ve been having creamy CM since my period. I’ve been nauseas off and on for the last couple days, and i have a headache. I also feel like i have no energy lately. I have taken a few pregnancy tests, and they have came back negative. I’m wondering what others think about my situation. I know some people don’t get a positive result right away. I also know about implantation bleeding and decidual bleeding, and from what i understand, it usually occurs duing the time you’d get your period, so i’m wondering if that could be what i experienced. If i don’t get my period this month, i will schedule a blood test, but i’d like to hear what everyone thinks and if anyone has experienced this and actually were pregnant. Thanks alot!!
A: The same thing happened to me. I thought it was implantation bleeding, but all my tests were negative, and I had the same symptoms as you, but it turned out to be a very light period. I was fooled bc the blood was brown, and only there if I wiped.I was not preventing pregnancy but we weren’t trying. 1 month after having a light period (which I thought was implantation bleeding) I became pregnant. I’m now 7 weeks. And even after that, I didn’t even get implantation bleeding, but I did get a negative result 1 day before my period was due, and that was at the doctor’s office! Many blessings!

No symptoms or signs noticeable until after the doctor told me I was 8 weeks pregnant. -Previously on depo for 1 year. Last injection given 4/2008. Contined testing with OPKS due to irregular periods. Only about a spot. Not pad, tampon, or pantyliner needed-12/22, negative HPT with first morning urine, pinkish discharge only a spot, no pad, tampon, or pantyliner needed.I have been charting on fertilityfriend.com. I know that the most accurate way of finding out is by going to see GYN.Please tell me what you think of my signs ans symptoms and answer these questions:1. How long after implanation can hcg be detected in a blood test. And how much is a blood test. How soon will the results be back.2.Is there a possibility that I have tested too early being that I had what appeared to be implanation bleeding on yesterday afternoon, but tested negative this morning with a first response pregnancy test?3. What are other signs to look for to detect early pregnancy. With my first child, I didn’t have any symptoms. No nausea or sore/tender boobs. I did noticed that my stomach started to budge a little bit. Since my periods have returned after depo I haved been getting any signs of those either. Use to get cramps years ago but no cramps anymore. My boobs never hurted when I got my cycle.4. If I am not pregnant, what else do you think that these symptoms could be signs of.
A: Well, I’m not sure how much I can help… but I’ll try as I feel your pain! I too was on Depo for a while (much longer that you though) and my last jab was in March 2008! Been TTC since with no luck. My periods come a bit more regularly, but like you they go from a 7-day heavy flow to a 2-day light flow!!! Anyway…1. Implantation generally occurs about 7-10 days past ovulation. So, theoretically HCG could start to be produced at 7 DPO. But, there are a lot of women that won’t have detectable levels (i.e. a BFP) of HCG until the first day of their missed period, or about 14 DPO. I have no idea how much a blood test costs, though I imagine if you have insurance it will be covered. I think the results come back fairly quickly. 2. It is possible that you’ve tested too early, especially with your irratic cycles, it’s hard telling exactly when you ovulated. You got your first positive OPK on 12/08, correct? That means you probably ovulated around the 9th or 10th… so you are only around 11 or 12 DPO! Assuming that you didn’t have an anovulatory cycle and for some reason or other didn’t ovulate this month. This will throw off your cycle as well. Or, perhaps it could be the aftermath of Depo making your cycle weird? 3. Sadly, the earliest pregnancy signs mimic PMS very closely… so there’s not real tell-tale sign that you’re pregnant aside from an HPT. A lot of women experience morning sickness around 4 weeks (when you should be getting your period), and some will experience implantation bleeding and cramping that feels as if AF is coming. A lot of others complain of sore breasts and noticeable blue veins on their breasts. But, it’s different for everyone so there’s no way to tell for sure! 4. If you’re not pregnant, I’d say that the weird symptoms and irregular bleeding are just the aftermath of the Depo. I am currently trying to figure out what’s going on with me as well. Though my periods come pretty regularly since August 2008, they started the first few months being 5-7 days of moderate to heavy flow, and since have dwindled down to only 2 days or so of light to regular flow! And, my cycles are very short (24-27 days so far). I’m dying to find out if there’s a problem, or if this is just my “normal” body now. Good luck to you! Hopefully I’ve at least partially answered your question. Wish I could be of more help. Lots of baby dust to you and hopefully you’ll get your BFP soon and all of your questions will be answered.
